The installation of a new Backing Plate is not difficult. Park on flat ground and set the brake, lifting the car, taking out the wheel, that is all. Loose the drum or unbolt the caliper and the rotor to be able to see the hub, then remove rust and grit. Install Backing Plate on top of the hub ports and align the holes with the bolts and tighten to factory torque so that nothing moves. Reassemble the wheel end, ensure that the shoes or rotor are free to turn, reassemble the wheel, bring the car down and have a slow test drive to ensure that the pedals are solid to the touch and that the stops are noise free.
