• Q: How do you install the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2009 Scion xD?

  A: Install the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring only after turning the ignition switch OFF and disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for at least 90 seconds of waiting time. The turn signal switch needs to remain in its neutral position before starting the installation while both the front tires need to point directly forward. The installation procedure requires you to use three claws for the clock spring installation while pulling out the lock pin for steering wheel installation when dealing with new clock springs. The Air Bag connector along with the horn connector need connection to the steering sensor before proceeding. The installation process includes first adding the steering column upper and lower covers before locking the clock spring using counterclockwise rotation and completing its alignment through 2.5 clockwise turns. Place the steering wheel assembly combined with the steering pad in position while making sure the vehicle faces direct forward with both front wheels.
