Hold the negative battery cable away from the terminal for at least 90 seconds to avoid deploying the Air Bag system before starting your work. The first step involves removing the under cover rear from the engine and then using Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 to detach Bank 1 Sensor 1 while disconnecting its connector. The Bank 2 Sensor 1 installation procedure should also be followed. Applying 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) torque is required while using Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 or 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) torque when using the tool without it, using a torque wrench with a 30 centimeter (11.81 inch) fulcrum length for sensor installation of both banks. Attach sensor connectors for both banks while restoring the engine under cover rear and reattaching the negative battery cable and performing post-battery switch initialization steps as the systems need this following a battery removal process.
