2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Service of the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer) starts by disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The engine coolant needs draining before technicians remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly together with intake air connector pipe and throttle body. Detach the sensor connector before extracting the engine coolant temperature sensor and then remove its gasket. When installing replace the sensor with a new gasket before tightening it to 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) with the sensor connector attached. Reassemble the throttle body together with the intake air connector pipe and V-bank cover sub-assembly before connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal. Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable so perform the procedure first then add engine coolant before checking for any sign of leakage.
