2006 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2006 Scion tC?
A: The first step for Camshaft Position Sensor service requires users to remove the battery negative cable followed by a minimum 90-second wait time to deactivate Air Bags and seat belts pretensioners. Service of the Camshaft Position Sensor begins by first removing the engine cover along with the air cleaner cap and then disconnecting the sensor connector before removing the bolt and sensor itself. First check that the O-ring maintains its shape without damage then use engine oil to coat it before installing the sensor with its bolt and torquing it to 9.0 N.m while connecting the sensor connector. To complete the procedure reinstall the air cleaner cap while reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal followed by leakage inspection of the engine oil and placement of the engine cover. Steps for initialization need to be completed by the user following the disconnect and reconnect of the negative battery terminal cable.
