2006 Scion tC Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on 2006 Scion tC?
A: The service of the ignition coil begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable and waiting 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Start by taking off the engine cover and ignition coil assembly through connector unplugging and bolt and coil removal of four sets. Install the 4 ignition coils by fastening them with the 4 bolts to 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) and reconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors. Replace the engine cover afterward by reattaching the cable to the negative battery terminal and initializing the system since some components need initialization following cable detachment and reattachment.
