2005 Scion tC Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2005 Scion tC?
A: Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal before Installing the Camshaft Position Sensor because initialization of power windows along with sliding roof will be required following reconnection. Disassembly of the engine cover sub-assembly No.1 enables sensor connector separation for removal of the camshaft position sensor bolt and sensor component. A thin layer of engine oil should be applied to the O-ring of the new sensor before installation using the bolt at 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) while ensuring proper O-ring condition. After reattaching the camshaft position sensor connector it is important to tighten the battery negative terminal at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). To finish the task check for oil leakage at the engine and reinstall engine cover sub-assembly No.1.
