2005 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT on 2005 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Start by lifting upward on the upper suspension arm with the steering knuckle to correctly position the lower ball joint before placing temporary 4 bolts. Use a set nut and new cotter pin to connect the lower ball joint to its position on the lower suspension arm while applying torque at 159 Nm (1,621 kgf-cm, 117 ft. lbs). Additional torque of 60 degrees should be applied to the nut when the cotter pin holes are not aligned properly. Proceed by joining the tie rod end with the ball joint through a new nut and cotter pin installation while reaching a torque level of 91 Nm (930 kgf-cm, 67 ft. lbs.) followed by a 60° nut tightening sequence if the cotter pin holes are misaligned. Perform a torque of 65 Nm (663 kgf-cm, 48 ft. lbs.) on the 4 bolts of the lower ball joint before installing the front wheel using a torque of 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). To complete the procedure you must check the front wheel alignment and carry out zero point calibration on steering angle and master cylinder pressure sensors alongside yaw rate and deceleration sensors.
