2004 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear axle hub and Wheel Bearing assembly on the left side on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: Installation of the REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSY LH requires the wheel removal followed by disconnecting the rear disc brake caliper assy LH using a bolt removal and separating the flexible hose from the shock absorber after which the assy disconnection with two bolts occurs. Prevent the caliper drop by suspending it with string through the flexible hose. First disconnect the skid control sensor by removing its connector followed by disc removal from the rear of the vehicle. Begin by removing the LH SR rear axle hub & bearing assy through the removal of its 4 bolts. Secure the hub & bearing assy LH in its original place by using 4 bolts which should be torqued to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.). Attach the skid control sensor while taking care to avoid twisting the wire. Check the bearing backlash and test the axle hub deviation before installing the rear disc. Secure the front horizontal position of the rear disc brake caliper assy LH using two bolts at 62 Nm (630 kgf-cm, 46 ft. lbs.) then install the rear flexible hose by tightening its single bolt to 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). The procedure ends with torquing the rear wheel to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) then inspecting and adjusting the wheel alignment before checking the ABS speed sensor signal for both ABS WITH EBD SYSTEM and ABS WITH EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC SYSTEM.
