Service or repair of the upper control arm starts by taking off the shock absorber along with coil spring from models RZN191L-TRPDKAB, RZN196L-CRPDKAB, PZN196L-PRPDKAB, VZN195L-CRPDKAB, VZN195L-PRPDKAB. Models with ABS need their ABS speed sensor wire harness clamp removed by taking off two mounting bolts on the steering knuckle and upper suspension arm using a torque setting of 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). To disconnect the upper ball joint start by removing its cotter pin followed by lightly tighting the nut until it reaches a torque of 105 Nm (1,100 kgf-cm, 80 ft. lbs.). Apply additional torque if the holes are not correctly aligned during installation to around 60 degrees. The nut holding the upper ball joint requires the use of Special Service Tool: 09950-40011 (09951-04010, 09952-04010, 09953-04020, 09954-04010, 09955-04031, 09958-04011) to disconnect it before removing the nut. But first, use this tool along with a shaft support to secure the steering knuckle. Follow up by detaching the upper suspension arm after noumerous steps that include removing the nut, bolt and 2 washers, then apply 115 Nm (1,200 kgf-cm, 87 ft. lbs.) torque when stabilizing the suspension for installation. The final step requires a check of the front wheel alignment after completing the installation process.
