How to Service and Repair the Control Arm on 2002 Toyota Tacoma?

The service and repair procedure of the lower control arm requires wheel removal from models RZN191L-TRPDKAB, RZN196L-CRPDKAB, PZN196L-PRPDKAB, VZN195L-CRPDKAB, and VZN195-PRPDKAB followed by using 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft.lb) torque. Start by removing the steering gear assembly followed by disconnecting the stabilizer bar link through nut removal with a torque of 90 Nm (920 kgf-cm, 66 ft. lbs.). The shock absorber can be disconnected through the removal of the lower nut and washer with 135 Nm (1,400 kgf-cm, 101 ft. lbs.) torque allowing the suspension arm to be lowered to remove the bolt. When you remove the lower ball joint first support the upper suspension arm with the steering knuckle then unfasten the nut and cotter pin using a torque of 140 Nm (1,450 kgf-cm, 103 ft. lbs.). Increase the nut's tension to 60 degrees if you encounter misaligned holes between the cotter pin. Install the ball joint connector to the lower suspension arm using Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 by putting the cotter pin holes in the forward position while maintaining all components intact. Begin lower suspension arm removal by setting matchmarks on front and rear adjusting cams and then proceed to remove the four nuts followed by adjusting cams and bolt and arm with a torque of 130 Nm (1,325 kgf-cm, 96 ft. lbs.). Use Special Service Tool: 09922-10010 to detach the No. 1 and No. 2 spring bumpers with a torque value of 23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft. lbs.) through a 345 mm (13.58 inch) torque wrench fulcrum length during assembly steps. Install the components in the reverse sequence of disassembly followed by an alignment check of the front wheels.
