The process to eliminate the wheel speed sensor starts by disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable when you must wait for 90 seconds or more to stop Air Bag plus seat belt pretensioner activation. Begin by taking out the rear wheel and the deck trim side panel assembly LH through the procedures used for removing the rear door scuff plate LH. Begin by disconnecting the skid control sensor wire connector, extracting the grommet from the wheel house followed by removal of the bolt (marked A) together with the sensor clamp (labeled B) from the side member, then remove the two nuts (designated C) with their sensor clamps (indicated D) from the upper arm. Move on to remove the bolt labeled E together with the sensor clamp labeled F from the carrier while disconnecting the skid control sensor wire connector G attached to the speed sensor. Drive out the rear disc brake cylinder mounting LH, the rear disc and finally the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH from the vehicle. Build the front hub axle inside a soft jaw vise while replacing the axle hub along with bearing when they undergo a hard drop or powerful shock. Apply a pin punch and hammer to remove the two pins which allows the removal of the two attachments using Special Service Tool: 09520-00031. The skid control sensor can be removed from the hub and bearing using Special Service Tools 09520-00031 and 09520-00040 together with 2 bolts of 12 mm diameter and 1.5 mm pitch. Perform this operation while preventing damage to the contacting surfaces of the hub and bearing pair and skid control sensor. The sensor rotor needs replacement if it becomes damaged during repair work.
