2010 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the Clock Spring with the steering angle sensor on 2010 Toyota Camry?
A: Attachment of the clock spring begins with engaging the 6 claws and 2 pins to the steering angle sensor. The front wheels should be positioned straight forward while the turn signal switch must remain at a neutral position to avoid pin damage. Install the clock spring to the steering angle sensor through the three claws after removing the lock pin unless you are replacing the clock spring. Fitting the connectors to the clock spring with steering angle sensor requires caution to protect the Air Bag wire harness from damage. Check that the power switch is off and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable followed by a 90-second wait period before installing the steering column cover to prevent an Air Bag from deploying. Use a counterclockwise rotation of the clock spring at a slow pace until it gains firmness before performing a clockwise rotation of 2.5 turns while maintaining an area between marks and steering clear of the Air Bag wire harness. The technician must install the steering wheel assembly while they inspect the steering wheel center point before adding the steering pad and No. 3 and No. 2 lower steering wheel covers. The install procedure requires plugging in the cable to the negative terminal before performing system initialization because some systems need to be reset when reconnecting the cable. Steering pad inspection must be completed while checking the SRS warning light.
