- Q: How to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2009 Toyota Camry?A: The first step to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring requires disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable then waiting 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag activation. The front wheels need to point directly forward. Remove the Steering Wheel covers starting with No. 3 followed by No. 2 and ending with the Steering Pad removal. The next step involves taking away the steering wheel assembly followed by the steering column cover. To remove the clock spring without VSC components connect the power outlets first before disengaging each of the three claws while avoiding damage to the Air Bag wire harness. The clock spring removal procedure requires disconnecting its connectors before disengaging 3 claws to extract the clock spring including its sensor. Disengage the six claws that are keeping the VSC clock spring attached to the steering angle sensor before removing it.
