Q: How to remove the rear Sway Bar Kit on 2009 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step to remove the rear sway bar kit for vehicles with 2WD is to unmount the rear wheels. The LH rear sway bar link assembly can be detached by removing its nut followed by separating it from the rear sway bar kit; when the ball joint turns with the nut implement a 5 mm hexagon wrench to stabilize the stud bolt. The rear sway bar link assembly LH must be detached from the rear shock absorber with coil spring LH by using a hexagon wrench to remove the nut. Follow the same procedure for removing and disassembling the rear sway bar link assembly on the right-hand side. You must first remove four bolts that fasten the rear sway bar kit. The removal process starts with bracket disassembly of the rear No. 1 sway bar kit on the LH side then repeats the steps for the RH side. Terminate your work by taking out the rear sway bar bushing from the LH side of the vehicle then execute the same steps for the RH side.
