2009 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the Front Cross-Member and related components on 2009 Toyota Highlander?
A: Install the front suspension member through these steps: position initially the rear cushion LH with its proper orientation then use Service Tool 09830-10010 to fasten it while verifying no space exists between the component and the cushion. Perform the same procedure for installing the front suspension member body mounting rear cushion RH. Perform the installation steps on the front suspension body mounting rear cushion RH while using the same installation tool. To continue mount the front suspension member body mounting front cushion temporarily while checking its direction before using Special Service Tool: 09830-10010 to fasten it down while ensuring there is no clearance left. Secure the front suspension member body mounting rear stopper and front stopper then add the front suspension member dynamic damper by tightening two bolts to 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf). The installation of front lower suspension arm LH and RH should be completed one at a time by using the same methods on each side. The transverse engine mounting insulator installation takes place with the front frame assembly for the 2GR-FE engine while the 1AR-FE engine gets the front frame assembly addition. The 2GR-FE requires removal of its hangers as well as detachment of engine hanger No.1 on the 1AR-FE. The power steering link assembly must be installed first with front stabilizer bar and front stabilizer link assembly before adding No. 1 front stabilizer bracket LH and RH while using identical procedures for both sides. The process of engine assembly with transaxle installation ends by installing both 2GR-FE and 1AR-FE engines together.
