2009 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install Liftgate Lift Support on 2009 Scion xD?
A: Installation of the back door support starts with cleaning the vehicle body threads followed by applying Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 or equivalent to the bolt threads before installing the back door stay bolt at 22 Nm(224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf) torque. After cleaning both threads apply Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 adhesive to the two back door damper stay upper bracket bolts and tighten them to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). When installing the back door stay assembly the stroke portions of the rod must be kept free from contact with foreign materials and gloves should not be worn because they can leave fibers behind and the cylinders must stay unloaded to prevent deformation. The stop ring should be installed at the back door stay assembly while hand-supporting the back door before completing installation of the whole assembly.
