2010 Scion xD Liftgate Lift Support Parts Q&A
Q: How to install Liftgate Lift Support on 2010 Scion xD?
A: After cleaning the vehicle body threads with non-residue solvent, apply adhesive 1324 from Toyota or Three Bond 1324 or equivalent to the 2 bolt threads. Then position the back door stay bolts with a torque setting of 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf). The installation of the upper bracket back door damper stay requires cleaning the threaded section then applying Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 equivalent to the bolts' threads before torquing up to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). Avoid contact with the rod stroke area to prevent attachment of foreign matter when installing the back door stay assembly along with keeping cylinders during service and dropping cotton gloves to stop fiber contamination and keeping horizontal forces off the cylinders to avoid deformations. Proceed with installing the stop ring to the back door stay assembly through hand support of the back door before totally finishing its installation.
