2008 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensor on 2008 Toyota Yaris?
A: The front speed sensor installation starts with attaching it to the steering knuckle and tightening the bolt to 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf) torque while checking that no foreign matter exists on the sensor tip and installation area and that the sensor remains in its original angle. After mounting the clamp on the shock absorber through a bolt you must apply a torque of 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf). Then attach another clamp to the body while tightening the bolt up to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). Seal the speed sensor connector and mount the speed sensor clip onto the body while securing the 3 installed clips. The front fender liner needs three screws and six clips alongside four grommets during setup but the speed sensor wire should remain inside the liner. Attach the front wheel to a torque level of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) before you restore the wire connection to the negative battery terminal while torquing it to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). The ABS sensor signal requires inspection as the final step.
