2007 Toyota Yaris Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the Transmission Speed Sensor on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: The Transmission Speed Sensor service requirements include first taking off the front wiper arm head cap followed by eliminating the front wiper arm along with its blade assembly from the left and right sides. The service starts by eliminating the hood to cowl top seal for hatchbacks but sedans require the removal of cowl side ventilator sub-assemblies on both sides. The subsequent service steps require removal of the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly together with the front wiper motor and link. The removal process of cowl to register duct sub-assembly along with front air shutter seal applies to sedan vehicles only. The protocol continues with the removal of the outer cowl top panel followed by the disconnect of battery tray and battery carrier. Begin by disconnecting the speedometer sensor connector before removing the bolt and sensor along with the clip and driven gear from the sensor and then remove the O-ring. Validate the speedometer sensor operation by applying 11.0 - 0.1 V output between terminals 2 and 3 while rotating the shaft using a battery connection of 1+ and 2-, then replacing the sensor if correct operation is not achieved. You must install a new O-ring which received ATF coating before inserting it onto the speedometer sensor followed by driven gear installation with a clip leading to speedometer sensor installation through the use of a 7.0 N m (71 kgf cm, 62 in. lbf) torque bolt and finally reconnecting the sensor connector. Install back the battery carrier followed by the battery tray and lift-in battery and then place the outer cowl top panel and cowl to register duct sub-assembly for hatchbacks and front air shutter seal for sedans. The procedure ends with installing both front wiper motor assemblies and links while reinstalling cowl top ventilator louver LH for hatchbacks, along with the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly, hood to cowl top seal for hatchbacks, cowl side ventilator sub-assemblies for sedans and reattaching front wiper arm and blade assemblies followed by securing the front wiper arm head cap.
