2007 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front wheel speed sensor on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: The repair process of the front wheel speed sensor starts with disconnecting the battery cable from its negative terminal. Service and repair of the front wheel speed sensor starts by disassembling the fender liner along with its front wheel. This requires removal of 3 screws, 6 clips, and 4 grommets. The front speed sensor removal process starts with uncoupling the body-mounted speed sensor clip then disconnecting the speed sensor connector after removing three clips before unbolting the clamp which secures the body to the shock absorber. To finish the process disconnect the speed sensor from the steering knuckle while maintaining the sensor tip clean and the installation portion threat-free and without changing the angle from its original position. The steering knuckle requires a bolt attachment of the speed sensor with a 8.5 Nm (87 kgf.cm, 75 in. lbs.) torque while ensuring clean sensor tip and installation portions are free of debris during the installation process which should be bolted without any rotation. Follow by securing both bolts; one bolt onto the shock absorber should receive 29 Nm (300 kgf.cm, 22 ft. lbs.) torque then the other bolt receives 6.0 Nm (61 kgf.cm, 53 in. lbs.) torque when attached to the body. Move on to install three clips, reconnect the speed sensor connector then fix the speed sensor clip onto the body. The front fender liner returns to its position using 3 screws with 6 clips and 4 grommets without letting the speed sensor wire reach outside of the liner. The front wheel gets installed after torqueing at 103 Nm (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft. lbs.) before connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal with a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in. lbs.) followed by ABS sensor signal inspection.
