2007 Toyota Yaris Wheel Hub Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the front Wheel Hub on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: Service and repair operations on the front wheel hub require users to start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and then removing the front wheel and the front wheel hub nut. You should disconnect the front speed sensor with ABS and remove the two bolts keeping the front disc brake caliper assembly in place before suspending it using a piece of string. Obtain the front wheel hub servicing by starting with front disc removal then separating the tie rod end sub-assembly along with the front stabilizer link assembly and front lower suspension arm and easing the front wheel assembly by lightly striking the drive shaft end with a plastic hammer or brass bar if required. Caution must be used while pushing the front wheel out of the vehicle to prevent damage to both the outboard joint boot and speed sensor rotor so you should suspend the drive shaft. Use snap ring pliers to remove the front wheel hub hole snap ring while protecting the magnetic rotor surface before fixing the steering knuckle in a vise while applying Special Service Tool: 09520-00031 to detach the wheel hub followed by using Special Service Tool: 09950-40011 (and additional tools) to remove the hub bearing inner race. Use a brass bar and hammer to tap the front disc brake dust cover at its backside until removal. Afterward, install your hub bearing inner race on the outside of the hub bearing. Employ Special Service Tools: 09223-15020 and others to extract the hub bearing from the steering knuckle. During reassembly feed a new hub bearing into position using Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 and others while also maintaining the magnetic rotor side toward the interior of the vehicle and refraining from disturbing either component or the sealing grease. You must first install the new brake dust cover temporarily before pushing it in using Special Service Tool: 09223-56010 from three points while using a chisel for security. Press the wheel hub into the steering knuckle using Special Service Tool: 09608-32010 and others, before installing a new hole snap ring with snap ring pliers which must not extend past the end of the snap ring when installed into the speed sensor. Inside the shock absorber position the front wheel assembly while tightening two bolts with two nuts to reach 164 N m of torque before using a force to align the drive shaft. Screw the front lower suspension arm together with the front stabilizer link assembly and tie rod end sub-assembly and front disc and front disc brake caliper assembly until they reach 107 N m of torque. Reinstall the front speed sensor (with ABS) followed by the front wheel hub nut and check both the front wheel hub bearing. The installation process ends by torquing the front wheel to 103 N m then conducting wheel alignment checks and re-connecting the battery cable while torquing it to 5.4 N m before verifying the ABS sensor signal.
