2008 Toyota Tacoma Knock Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Knock Sensor on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The first step to remove the Knock Sensor from the 2TR-FE engine control system begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable. For 4WD and Pre-Runner models remove the engine under cover sub-assembly to start the drain of engine coolant. Start the process by taking off the intake air connector followed by the throttle with motor body assembly. Before proceeding remove the fuel hose along with fuel hose No.2. Start by detaching the fuel vapor feed hose from the VSV followed by the vacuum hose and bolt and clamp bracket and water by-pass hose No. 2 and ventilation hose No. 3 and VSV connector from the intake manifold. Users must unfasten the engine wire harness clamp in addition to disconnecting the magnetic compressor connector when air conditioning is present. First disconnect three connectors while removing the bolt and harness clamp bracket. Then remove the nut which is shown in the illustration. Merely disconnect the engine wire harness from the relay block followed by removing the intake manifold through five bolts and two nuts. Completion of the knock control sensor removal requires disconnecting its connector and removing the securing bolt.
