2008 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the park/neutral safety switch assembly for the A340E automatic transmission on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The first step to install the park/neutral position switch assembly for the A340E automatic transmission is to mount the switch onto the manual valve lever shaft while turning the adjusting bolt loosely. Place the grommet accompanied by a new lock washer and the nut which requires a torque wrench of 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf) for installation. Insert the manual valve lever shaft into position on the groove followed by counterclockwise rotation of two notches to reach the neutral position. Use a 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) torque to tighten the adjusting bolt while aligning the neutral basic line with the switch groove. Bending at least two tabs of the lock washer should occur. Initial connectivity of the forget and wire to the negative battery mark requires 3.9 Nm torque using a torque wrench (40 kgf-cm and 35 in-lbf). Perform inspections on the shift lever position and adjust the park/neutral position switch assembly when necessary.
