2008 Toyota Sienna Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the ignition coil and spark plug on 2008 Toyota Sienna?
A: The first step for replacing ignition coil and spark plug components of the 2GR-FE engine starts with battery cable removal from the negative terminal. Additionally, extract all engine coolant from the system before the work begins. First detach the wiper arm head caps followed by extraction of front wiper arms from both right and left sides and finally the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. Begin by removing the windshield wiper motor together with its link assembly and the No. 1 cowl top to cowl brace inner and the cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front. The service procedure requires front wiper arm head cap removal before proceeding to take off the V-bank cover sub-assembly, air cleaner cap sub-assembly, No. 1 engine under cover, and intake air surge tank assembly. The process for No. 1 surge tank stay removal requires first removing 2 bolts and a nut followed by disconnecting 2 harness clamps before taking out the bolt and No. 1 surge tank stay. After 6 ignition coil connector detachment and removal of the 6 bolts and ignition coils the system will be ready for removing the 6 spark plugs.
