The first step is to begin by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery terminal for 2UZ-FE engine ECM replacement while recognizing that initializations could be needed after reconnecting some systems. The first step requires the removal of the throttle body cover sub-assembly with its associated air cleaner hose assembly. When removing the air cleaner assembly disconnect both the connector basics and clamp and detach the two bolts to separate the unit. Unfasten the connector holder block using the three bolts for removal. By disconnecting the wire harness clamp technicians can access the ECM to raise the 2 levers simultaneously and press on their locks. The lock lever should be elevated to 90 degrees position before removing two connectors and the 4 bolts that secure the ECM. After removing the rubber gasket you need to apply gasket remover or equivalent to the rest of the tape surface while protecting the ECM connector with cloth. Then use a cutter knife to slowly cut away the tape without harming the ECM sealing area.
