Toyota Sequoia Engine Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Toyota Sequoia?
A: The installation of the 2UZ-FE engine's Engine Control Module (ECM) starts with cleaning the ECM seal surface using a non-residue solvent followed by applying a new gasket on the ECM. Follow this step by attaching the 4 bolts to install the ECM while making sure the gasket stays flat and unstressed and free from any abrasive matter between membranes. At the same time avoid damaging the gasket surface. Connect both ECM connectors but elevate the lock lever to 90 degrees first because it protects connector breakage and never apply twisting pressure to the wire harness. Secure the wire harness clamp before using 3 bolts to install the connector holder block while torquing them to 7.3 Nm (74 kgf-cm, 65 in-lbf). The air cleaner installation will be performed by using 2 bolts which need 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf) torque value while connecting the mass air flow meter cable and clamp. The installation includes setting the air cleaner hose near the throttle body cover sub-assembly. Users should install the cable onto the negative battery terminal while recognizing that particular systems could need initialization after reconnection followed by performing any required initialization steps.
