2008 Toyota Camry Crankshaft Seal Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the crankshaft seal on 2008 Toyota Camry?
A: A proper procedure to remove the crankshaft main bearing seal on 2AZ-FE engines requires initial separation of the automatic or manual transaxle assembly. The process requires using Special Service Tool: 09960-10010, 09962-01000, 09963-01000 for TMMK made vehicles or Special Service Tool: 09213-54015, 91651-60855 for TMC made vehicles to secure the crankshaft. This allows for removal of the 8 bolts, rear spacer, drive plate and front spacer. Usage of the same Special Service Tools lets you hold the crankshaft to separate the 8 manual transaxle bolts and flywheel after removing the clutch disc assembly and clutch cover assembly. A screwdriver taped at the tip and a knife enable successful removal of the engine rear oil seal by prying out the lip first. Examine the crankshaft for any damage before preparing its surface with 400-grit sandpaper in case there is damage.
