The first step for installing a front door lock requires replacement of existing door lock packing with new material after cleaning the packing surface free of dirt and grease. Use MP grease for all sliding and rotating front door lock components before you install the front door inside locking cable along with engaging its three claws to close the cover. Afterward install the front door lock remote control cable together with a new door lock wire harness seal on the front door lock. Install the front door lock open rod to its designated place within the front door lock and secure it against the front door outside handle frame. With Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 along with its equivalent, apply adhesive to front door lock screws before installing them using a TORX socket wrench T30 equipped with 5.0 Nm torque (51 kgf-cm or 44 in-lbf). Connect the connector, then proceed to install the front door outside handle cover, separation door stiffener cushion, front door frame rear lower sub-assembly, front door window regulator sub-assembly, front door glass run, front door glass sub-assembly, front door service hole cover, front door trim bracket, front door belt moulding assembly, outer rear view mirror assembly, front door glass inner Weather Strip, front door trim board sub-assembly, front door inside handle bezel, front door lower frame bracket garnish, and front armrest base upper panel. The cable needs to be fastened to the negative battery terminal with 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) of torque.
