2007 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Toyota Tundra?
A: Services on the vacuum brake booster begin with disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal while waiting at least 90 seconds until turning off the ignition to permit navigation system settings recording. Brake fluid should be drained carefully while immediately cleaning off paint contact areas. Work on the vacuum brake booster requires removal of the brake master cylinder sub-assembly followed by vacuum hose assembly separation by pulling the clip off the check valve. Follow these steps to disconnect the two brake booster connectors from brake booster: remove the front door scuff plate LH from Regular Cab and Double Cab and then take off the cowl side trim board LH and lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly LH and No. 1 instrument panel safety pad insert. Start by removing the push rod pin clip before you can proceed to detach the brake booster with its four nuts before extracting it from the mounting points. Then remove the gasket while loosening the lock nut to split the clevis. The brake process requires installation of the brake vacuum check valve assembly followed by installation of the brake booster assembly using a new gasket while torquing the four nuts to 15 N m (155 kgf cm, 11 ft. lbf). The order to replace components is to start with the push rod pin followed by the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad insert, lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly LH, cowl side trim board LH, front door scuff plate LH for Regular Cab and Double Cab. Connect the two brake booster connectors and join the vacuum hose to the check valve without applying any lubricant. After reattaching the brake master cylinder sub-assembly test the brake pedal height implementation and verify the brake booster operational state. Reinstall the cable on the brake master cylinder negative terminal before adding brake fluid to the reservoir and extracting all air from the brake master cylinder as well as the brake line and VSC actuator assembly. Conclude by checking the brake fluid level in the reservoir while also inspecting for any fluid leakages.
