Brake Booster

First disconnect the negative battery terminal cable but allow at least 90 seconds for memory and setting recording after ignition switch off before proceeding to remove the vacuum brake booster. You need to drain the brake fluid while using precautions to wash off paint-contact fluid with water. Uninstall the brake master cylinder sub-assembly followed by separate vacuum hose assembly disconnect with the clip sliding motion and hose valve check separation procedure. The brake booster requires the removal of its two connector assemblies. Owners with Regular Cab vehicles must detach both front door scuff plates while owners with Double Cab and CrewMax models must separate all front door scuff plates. Start by removing the cowl side trim board LH before proceeding to lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly LH. Extract the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad insert before you can remove the push rod pin through its clip. After removing the four nuts from the brake booster one can pull out the booster assembly while removing the gasket then loosen the lock nut before detaching the clevis and finally taking out the brake vacuum check valve assembly.

Also remove the front door scuff plate LH.

Disconnect the two brake booster connectors from the brake booster.
