2006 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake booster assembly for Standard Cab and Access Cab on 2006 Toyota Tundra?
A: The service and repair operations for brake booster assembly in Standard Cab and Access Cab start by removing the master cylinder followed by disconnecting the vacuum hose from brake booster. The service begins with removing scuff plate LH, cowl side trim LH, lower finish panel and No.2 heater to register duct. The service of the brake booster begins by unplugging the pedal return spring, clip, and clevis pin followed by removing the brake booster using its 4 nuts and clevis and pulling out the combined brake booster and gasket and removing the 2 stopper rings and brake booster bracket and gasket from the brake booster. The brake booster installation requires a new gasket on the booster before adding brake booster bracket together with 2 stopper rings before installing the booster with its new gasket. Install the clevis to the operating rod before torquing the booster installation nuts to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Drive the clevis pin along the clevis and brake pedal before fastening it with the clip then reattach the vacuum hose to the brake booster. Reposition the No.2 heater to join with the register duct followed by lower finish panel then cowl side trim LH and scuff plate installation. The Special Service Tool: 09737-00011 must be placed on the master cylinder to lower the pin until it touches the piston. Next turn the tool upside down to measure the 0 mm (0 inch) clearance between the booster push rod and its pin head. A correct length for the booster push rod can be achieved by using Special Service Tool: 09737-00020 to set the rod contact point at the pin head. To finish the procedure reinstall the master cylinder followed by brake fluid addition to the reservoir then brake system bleeding along with fluid leakage checking and brake pedal adjustment before performing operational tests.
