2005 Toyota Tundra Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake booster assembly for the Double Cab on 2005 Toyota Tundra?
A: The service and repair procedure for the Double Cab brake booster assembly requires a master cylinder uninstallation as well as brake booster vacuum hose separation. The service starts by removing the scuff plate LH followed by cowl side trim LH and lower finish panel and No.2 heater to register duct. Start by removing the pedal return spring followed by the clip and clevis pin. Then disassemble the brake booster itself by unfastening its 4 nuts and clevis before pulling out the brake booster and gasket. Remove two stopper rings and the brake booster bracket together with its gasket from the brake booster. The brake booster requires a new gasket before attaching its bracket and installing the two stopper rings. Fit the booster onto its proper place with a fresh gasket afterward link the clevis to operate the rod then tighten the booster installation nuts to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). After installing the brake booster along with a new gasket position the clevis pin within the clevis system and brake pedal where you can lock it with the supplied clip and return the vacuum hose to its place on the brake booster. The process includes reinstalling the No.2 heater to register duct followed by lower finish panel and cowl side trim together with scuff plate. Reinstallation of the master cylinder must commence only after checking that both brake booster push rod adjustments and diameter converting unit and brake combination changes have been omitted. Then follow by filling the brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleeding the brake system. Fluid leakage needs to be checked before conducting brake pedal verification and adjustment and performing operational assessment.
