2005 Toyota Tundra Brake Caliper Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the front brake caliper on 2005 Toyota Tundra?
A: Start front brake caliper service by removing the front wheel while fastening the disc with hub nuts at 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). First disconnect the brake line by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101, but catch all brake fluid into a container and secure it to a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). The front caliper removal starts with removing mounting bolts that require 123 Nm of torque (1,250 kgf-cm and 90 ft. lbs.). After disc clip removal and anti-rattle spring and 2 pins removal the technician should remove 2 pads while taking out 4 anti-squeal shims. The anti-rattle spring and clip retain their use in case they remain free from deformities along with cracks and indications of wear but need to be clean of rust and dirt and foreign objects. Reinstall the brake system by following the opposite order of removal steps while filling brake fluid in the reservoir and performing brake bleeding to check for any leakage.
