2004 Toyota Tundra Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake booster assembly on a Double Cab on 2004 Toyota Tundra?
A: The brake booster assembly servicing process for Double Cab requires first removal of the master cylinder together with vacuum hose disconnection from the brake booster. Begin service by disassembling the scuff plate on the LH side together with the cowl side trim LH, lower finish panel and No. 2 heater to register duct. The service begins with removing the pedal return spring followed by the clip and clevis pin before carefully extracting the brake booster through the removal of the four nuts and clevis then pulling out the brake booster and gasket and removing the two stopper rings and brake booster bracket and gasket from the brake booster. To install the brake booster you must first install a new gasket onto it followed by fitting brake booster bracket and 2 stopper rings and placing the booster with new gasket. Fasten the clevis to the operating rod before torquing the booster installation nuts to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). To complete the installation feed the clevis pin through the clevis then brake pedal while fastening it with the clip before attaching the vacuum hose to the brake booster. The No. 2 heater requires reinstallation before the register duct, lower finish panel, cowl side trim LH and scuff plate. Installation of the master cylinder follows by filling the brake fluid reservoir then performing brake system bleeding. The last steps involve inspection for fluid leakages alongside brake pedal verification and an operational check.
