2007 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the brake master cylinder on 2007 Toyota Tundra?
A: Remove the brake master cylinder by starting with disconnecting the negative battery cable followed by a minimum 90 second wait time after ignition shut-off for navigation setting recording. Pump out the brake fluid before washing away the fluid from touched painted areas. Connectors for the brake fluid level warning switch need removing to disconnect both the front No. 1 brake tube (designated as A) and the rear No. 1 brake tube (marked as B) from the brake master cylinder assembly using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. The brake master cylinder sub-assembly replacement takes place after depressions of the brake pedal reduce brake booster vacuum pressure so you can remove the two nuts and the brake master cylinder and brake master cylinder seal. The installation of a new brake master cylinder seal requires two new nuts to be used for securing the brake master cylinder at 25 N m (255 kgf cm, 18 ft. lbf). Attach the front No. 1 brake tube by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to achieve 20 N m (199 kgf cm, 14 ft. lbf) without the tool or 18 N m (185 kgf cm, 13 ft. lbf) with the tool, and follow the same procedure for the rear No. 1 brake tube. After cable connection to the negative battery terminal follow the installation of the brake fluid level warning switch connector and be aware of possible system initialization requirements. You should begin by filling the brake fluid reservoir before performing air bleeding on the brake master cylinder and brake line along with the VSC actuator assembly. After that check the fluid level in the reservoir and examine for brake fluid leaks.
