2008 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the brake master cylinder on 2008 Toyota Tundra?
A: The brake master cylinder installation starts with putting a new brake master cylinder seal on the brake master cylinder before tightening 2 new nuts to 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf). The front No. 1 brake tube (labeled A) needs to be connected to the brake master cylinder by applying torque at 20 Nm (199 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) without the wrench or 18 Nm (185 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf) with the wrench using a torque wrench with 300 mm (11.8 in.) fulcrum length and an alignment of the wrench parallel to the torque wrench. The same torque specifications should be used to mount the rear No. 1 brake tube (labeled B). The brake fluid level warning switch connector should be connected followed by attaching the cable to the negative battery terminal but initialization may be needed for certain systems after reconnecting. Primarily add brake fluid to the reservoir then remove air from the brake master cylinder along with the brake line and VSC actuator assembly. Next step involves checking both the brake fluid amount in the reservoir as well as conducting an inspection for leakages from the brake fluid.
