2009 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the brake master cylinder on 2009 Toyota Tundra?
A: Begin the brake master cylinder installation by placing a brake master cylinder seal onto the brake master unit then fasten the unit with 2 new nuts to achieve torque at 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf). Hold the front No. 1 brake tube (marked A) against the brake master cylinder and apply a torque of 20 Nm (199 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) utilizing a union nut wrench which should be parallel to the torque wrench and possess a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.8 in.) or apply a torque of 18 Nm (186 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf) when using the wrench. Follow the same torque specifications to attach the rear No. 1 brake tube (identified as B). You should then establish the connection for the brake fluid level warning switch before connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal although some systems need to complete an initial setup after reconnection. The mechanic must fill the brake fluid reservoir and perform air bleeding on the brake master cylinder and brake line and VSC actuator assembly while verifying the brake fluid level before inspecting for fluid leaks.
