2009 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensors on 2009 Toyota Tundra?
A: The first step to install front speed sensors requires installing front skid control sensor clamp LH by threading bolt B until it reaches 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) while ensuring stopper C contacts the knuckle. Install the front speed sensor LH using hexagon socket head cap bolt E and torques it to 11 Nm (107 kgf-cm, 8 ft-lbf). Before insertion, check for both damaged or foreign matter on the sensor tip. The next procedure requires connection of connector A followed by the installation of three harness clamps B through bolts C which need torquing to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). During this step the wire harness must not be twisted and each rotation stopper should reach the intended installation location. Secure the harness clamp using bolt D while torquing it to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) and then firmly connect three clips E. Use bolt B and tighten it to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft.lbf). Next, install the front speed sensor RH with bolt E which requires an 11 Nm (107 kgf-cm, 8 ft.lbf) torque. Both procedures must employ the same attention to sensor and foreign matter safety. The front skid control sensor wire RH installs clamp A with bolt B reaching 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf) torque while connecting connector C and installing two harness clamps D with bolts E torqued to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Retrofit the harness clamp which gets secured with bolt E at 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) before installing three clips F. To install the speed sensor connector, connect the G connector. Complete the wheel installation process by torquing aluminum wheels to 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) and steel wheels to 209 Nm (2131 kgf-cm, 154 ft-lbf) then apply the negative battery terminal and verify the speed sensor signal.
