  A: Service of the knock sensor begins with disconnecting the negative cable terminal then removing the engine under cover sub-assembly for 4WD and Pre-Runner vehicles followed by draining the engine coolant. The service begins by setting aside the intake air connector together with throttle and motor body assembly and by disconnecting both fuel hoses. The following process removes the intake manifold after disconnecting the fuel vapor feed hose from VSV along with vacuum hose as well as the bolt and clamp bracket followed by disconnection of water by-pass hose No. 2 and ventilation hose No. 3 and VSV connector and disengaging engine wire harness clamp and compressor magnetic clutch connector (if equipped with air conditioning) while removing needed bolts and nuts. The knock control sensor becomes available for removal after disconnecting its connector and unhitching the bolt.
