2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Heated Oxygen Sensor for Bank 1 Sensor 2 on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: Service of the Heated Oxygen Sensor for Bank 1 Sensor 2 starts by removing the rear No. 2 floor board and the rear deck floor box along with the rear No. 3 floor board. First disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal while allowing a 90-second wait period to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The next step requires removal of the lower center instrument panel finish panel. The procedure to remove the heated oxygen sensor includes first detaching its clip with an appropriate tool followed by floor carpet front folding and disconnecting the sensor connector and extracting the grommet from the vehicle and finally removing the wire harness clamp bracket. The sensor removal process requires utilization of Special Service Tool: 09224-00010. The sensor should be installed using a 30 cm (11.81 in.) torque wrench to apply 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) torque when utilizing the tool or reach 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) without the tool by following the exact installation procedure. After sensor connector reattachment, replace the floor carpet front with the clip but first install clamp bracket and grommet and connector. After reconnecting the negative battery cable check for exhaust gas leakages. Finish installation of the lower center instrument panel finish panel combined with the rear No. 3 floor board and rear deck floor box and rear No. 2 floor board while performing initialization on systems that need it after battery terminal disconnect-connect.
