2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: Service of the Crankshaft Position Sensor begins with battery cable disconnect at the negative terminal followed by at least 90 seconds of waiting before proceeding. Start by removing the engine under cover RH along with disconnecting the sensor connector before removing its bolt and sensor. Installation requires placement of the new sensor together with its bolt while tightening it to 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). The sensor connector should then be reconnected. Initiate system initialization through reconnecting the battery cable to the negative terminal before returning the engine cover right hand side. This step is essential due to system requirements for post-cable disconnect procedures.
