Crankshaft Position Sensor

The first step for servicing the Crankshaft Position Sensor involves removing the negative battery cable for 90 seconds to avoid triggering Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners. First detach both the engine under cover RH followed by disconnecting the sensor connector before unbolting the sensor and removing it. Secure the new sensor in position using the bolt which needs tightening at 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). Insert the sensor connector afterward. Replacement of the RH engine under cover completes the process along with reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal. Initialization steps must be performed since some systems demand this procedure when disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

When replacing the crankshaft position sensor start by disconnecting its connector before eliminating the bolt and sensor. The installation process requires application of a thin oil coat on the O-ring before installing the sensor with its bolt to reach a torque value of 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). Rejoin the crankshaft position sensor connector at the end of installation.

Reconnect the crankshaft position sensor after joining it to the No.3 engine wire (negative terminal of the battery). After leak checks on the vehicle engine, put the components in their correct positions such as the rear floor board No.3, deck floor box rear, and rear floor board No.2, while also carrying out power window control system initialization.

The right-hand side of the engine under cover needs removal after which you should disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector while removing the bolt to extract the crankshaft position sensor.
