2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The service process for ignition coil begins by removing the rear No. 2 floor board together with the rear deck floor box and rear No. 3 floor board. The service on the ignition coil begins when you disconnect the negative cable from the battery but you must allow at least 90 seconds to protect against Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The service of the engine room No. 2 relay block begins by removing its 2 bolts followed by disconnecting the relay block. Unplug the 4 ignition coil connectors followed by removing the 4 bolts to pull out the 4 ignition coils from the assembly. Installation requires the ignition coil assembly to be fitted first before securing its 4 bolts to 9.0 N.m torque specification (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) and attaching the 4 ignition coil connectors. You should install engine room No. 2 relay block through 2 bolts which need torquing at 8.4 N.m (86 kgf.cm, 74 in.lbf). The wiring cable should be connected to the negative battery terminal before placing the rear No. 3 floor board then the rear deck floor box followed by the rear No. 2 floor board. Initialization procedures must be completed due to requirements that exist when undoing and redoing the battery terminal cable connection.
