2007 Toyota Prius Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: Start the ignition coil service operation by taking out the rear No. 2 floor board, rear deck floor box along with the rear No. 3 floor board. The operator must disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal followed by a 90-second wait before proceeding to prevent activation of Air Bags and seat belt pretensioners. The service begins with disconnecting the engine room No. 2 relay block through 2 bolt removal followed by disconnection of the relay block. The 4 ignition coils require removal together with the ignition coil assembly. The first step is to disconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors followed by removing 4 bolts to extract the entire 4 ignition coils. The installation procedure begins by installing the ignition coil assembly through attachment of 4 bolts that should be torqued to 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) then connecting 4 ignition coil connectors. Use two bolts to set up the engine room No. 2 relay block with torque reaching 8.4 N.m (86 kgf.cm, 74 in.lbf). The negative battery cable should be reconnected before the installation sequence of rear No. 3 floor board, rear deck floor box, and rear No. 2 floor board. Achieve initialization for those systems which need it following the battery cable removal and reattachment procedure at the negative terminal.
