2007 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: The Camshaft Position Sensor repair process starts by taking off the radiator support opening cover at first then proceeding to remove the appliance under covers from both sides. Engine coolant and HV coolant draining should happen before disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable along with a 90-second delay to prevent Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. After removing the inverter with converter you should disconnect the sensor connector before taking out the bolt and sensor. The new sensor installation procedure starts by attaching it to the bolt which requires torqueing at 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) before connector reconnection. After properly reinstalling the inverter with converter the technician must reattach the cable to the negative battery terminal and complete the HV coolant and engine coolant addition. Check for leaks in the engine coolant system alongside the HV coolant system and then restore the radiator support opening cover along with both engine under covers. The initialization process needs to be performed when reconnecting the negative battery terminal because some systems require this specific step.
