2005 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oxygen sensor on 2005 Toyota Prius?
A: You should start by following safety protocols when replacing the air-fuel ratio sensor after you remove the radiator support opening cover and engine under covers on both the left-hand and right-hand sides and drain the high-voltage coolant. Start by disconnecting the rear floor board No.2 followed by removal of the deck floor box rear and the rear floor board No.3. Engine wire No.3 should be disconnected from the battery negative terminal while users remove the service plug grip along with the windshield wiper arm cover. The service team must remove front wiper arms along with the hood to cowl top seal and both cowl top ventilator louvers while also taking off the wiper arms (RH and LH). The ordering must include removal of the windshield wiper link assembly and cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front and the inverter shield. Check the w/converter inverter assembly voltage reaches 0V before disconnecting hoses No.2, No.1, No.6, breaking sensor No.1, and cutting wire No.2. Gather Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 and start by first removing the wire harness clamp then disconnecting the sensor connector before extracting the sensor with this tool. The installation process for the new air-fuel ratio sensor includes using Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 while torquing it to 44 Nm (450 kgf.cm, 33 in.lbf) then reconnecting the sensor connector before reinstalling the wire harness clamp. Install the w/converter inverter assembly and connect the required components which include frame wire No.2, circuit breaker sensor No.1 as well as inverter cooling hoses No.6, No.1, and No.2. After attaching the inverter cover and cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front the technician should install the windshield wiper link assembly and service plug grip followed by reconnecting engine wire No.3 (battery negative terminal). Add HV coolant then verify leakages of both HV coolant and exhaust gas prior to installing the cowl top ventilator louver assemblies (RH and LH) as well as the hood to cowl top seal and both LH and RH front wiper arms followed by windshield wiper arm cover before installing rear floor board No.3 with deck floor box rear components before rear floor board No.2 and engine under covers (RH and LH) and radiator support opening cover. Finish the procedure with power window control system initialization.
