2006 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front wheel speed sensor on 2006 Toyota Matrix?
A: The first step to replace a front wheel speed sensor requires removing the front wheel together with the left-hand side front fender liner. First detach both the speed sensor wire harness clamp from the body along with the speed sensor connector. First remove the two clamp bolts which secure the sensor harness to the body and shock absorber and then remove the bolt and speed sensor while keeping the sensor tip free from dirt. Use the bolt to install the new speed sensor front LH while torquing it to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) before ensuring the sensor tip remains clean. The sensor harness clamp should be reharnessed through bolts "A" and "B" by applying 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque to Bolt A while keeping Bolt B at 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.). Connect the speed sensor connector to the body while securing the wire harness clamp at the same time. The last step involves replacing the left front fender liner and installing the front wheel by tightening it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) then verifying the ABS speed sensor signal.
