How to replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 on 2006 Toyota Matrix?

The repair process of the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 begins with console box assembly rear removal and continues with the parking brake lever sub-assembly extraction. Operate your tool to remove the exhaust pipe assembly front (2WD drive type) and follow with the front floor heat insulator No.1 by driving out its 3 nuts. You must remove the front floor heat insulator No.2 through nut removal. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No.1 at the equalizer before removing it. Attach the new parking brake cable assembly No.1 to both the equalizer parts and then fasten it into position. Secure the front floor heat insulator No.2 with 2 nuts and tighten them to 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) and proceed with installing front floor heat insulator No.1 using the same torque method and 3 nuts. The exhaust pipe assembly front (2WD drive type) and the parking brake lever sub-assembly need to be installed after the workspace has been completed. Check and calibrate the parking brake lever movement before putting the console back in its rear position.
