The procedure for Parking Brake Cable Assembly No.1 replacement starts by removing the console box assembly rear followed by removal of the parking brake lever sub-assembly. First detach the exhaust pipe assembly front (2WD drive type) and move on to remove the front floor heat insulator No.1 using three nut removal. Remove the front floor heat insulator No.2 after unfastening its two nuts. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No.1 before taking it away from the equalizer. The installation of new parking brake cable assembly No.1 begins by connecting it to the equalizer before securing it. Use the provided 2 nuts to mount the front floor heat insulator No.2 at 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) then fasten the front floor heat insulator No.1 with 3 nuts tightened to 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). Put back both the exhaust pipe assembly front (2WD drive type) and the parking brake lever sub-assembly. Before the console box assembly rear is reinstalled it is essential to check parking brake lever travel and adjust if needed.
