- Q: How to replace the floor shift parking brake cable assembly (ATM) on 2005 Toyota Matrix?A: The floor shift parking lock cable assembly (ATM) requires the meter hood sub-assembly, steering column cover, instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center, instrument cluster finish panel assembly ctr, instrument panel box, and instrument panel finish panel lower center to be removed beforehand. The floor shift parking lock cable assembly requires its removal by pushing the claw to break its connection to the shift lock release link while using a screwdriver to separate it from the shift lever plate and disconnecting the cable clamp when the ignition switch reaches acc or on setting with another screwdriver used to disconnect the cable from the upper bracket. For installation, turn the ignition switch to acc or on, connect the cable to the upper bracket, connect the cable clamp, shift the shift lever to the n position, unlock the claw of the lock key of the automatic adjustment part with a screwdriver, pass the parking lock cable through the hole of the shift lever plate, insert the slide cap into the shift lever plate, apply mp grease to the shift lock release link, insert the lever pin into the hole in the cable end, and lock the lock key, ensuring the shift lever is in the n position and the ignition key is set to acc or on. The final step includes replacing the instrument panel finish panel lower center and instrument panel box and instrument cluster finish panel assembly ctr as well as instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center followed by steering column cover then verify key interlock functionality.
