2005 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Sway Bar Kit on 2005 Toyota Celica?
A: The service and repair process for the sway bar kit starts with removing sway bar links after unthreading the 2 nuts and sway bar link at 44 Nm torque (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.). You need to secure the stud using a hexagon wrench that is 5 mm in size when the ball joint rotates with the nut. Apply this procedure to service the sway bar links on the second side. Proceed by removing the front suspension member with the lower suspension arm and then the sway bar by removing both bolts with bracket and bushing at 19 Nm torque values (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Install the bushing so that its cutout faces the rear section and stays beyond the sway bar paint line on each side before eliminating the sway bar. Before installing the nut on the ball joint you must flip the ball joint stud backward and forward 5 times to check the sway bar link. Turn the nut with a constant motion using a torque wrench at a pace between 2 and 4 seconds per rotation then measure the torque on the fifth turn while striving to reach a value from 0.05 Nm to 1.0 Nm (0.5 kgf-cm to 10 kgf-cm or 0.4 inch lbs. to 8.7 inch lbs.). The front wheel alignment must be checked after the sway bar kit is correctly installed through the opposite procedure of removal.
