Begin by taking out the front wheel followed by an examination of pad lining depth until reaching 1.0 mm (0.039 inch); new pads are necessary when the minimum is not achieved. Start by taking out the clip and anti-rattle spring as well as 2 pins and then remove the pads together with their 4 anti-squeal shims. Note that reusing the anti-rattle spring and clip remains possible when there is no apparent deformation or cracks or wear and they do not contain rust or dirt or foreign objects. Disc thickness and runout measurement is required before pad installation while you must use new anti-squeal shims with the replacement pads. Use a monkey wrench handle or equivalent to push in the pistons into the reservoir after drawing out a small brake fluid amount while taping the handle first and changing the pads individually to stop the opposite piston from flying out; use bleeding fluid if the piston sticks during insertion. Put the anti-squeal shims on the new pads while covering each inner shim portion with disc brake grease then place the new pads into position avoiding any oil or grease from reaching the pad rubbing surface. All installation starts with putting in the anti-rattle spring along with two pins and the clip, before reinstalling the front wheel and torquing its components to 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). Conclude the process by checking that the fluid measure extends up to the max line on the brake fluid reservoir.

Check the disc thickness and runout before installing the pad support plates and new pads, making sure to replace the anti-squeal shims with the pads.

To prevent the opposite piston from flying out.

Finally, depress the brake pedal several times and check that the fluid level is at the maximum line.

Install the anti-rattle spring and 2 pins, followed by the clip, and then reinstall the front wheel.

If the piston is difficult to push in, loosen the bleeder plug to allow some brake fluid to escape.
